FAER invites nominations for membership into the FAER Academy of Research Mentors in Anesthesiology. Any active member of the Academy or the Chair of an academic department may submit candidates for membership. All nominees should be actively involved in research relevant to the anesthesiology community and should be involved in mentoring activities. To increase the participation of minority researchers as mentors, and the cultural and ethnic diversity of the Academy, we encourage nominees from underrepresented populations. The main criterion for selection to membership in the Academy is the quantity and quality of current and prior mentoring experiences. Nominations should include a cover letter emphasizing the mentoring experience of the nominee in addition to completed copies of the Mentor Table and the biographical sketch form. Candidates will be reviewed by a membership selection committee and submitted for final vote by the entire membership.

Nominations must be submitted to the FAER office using this online application system, by August 31, 2012.

1. A cover letter from the nominator emphasizing the mentoring experience of the nominee.
2. The nominee’s biographical sketch (please use the standardized FAER Biographical Sketch template provided below).
3. The nominee’s trainee list (please use the FAER Mentor Table template provided below).

We will review the materials you’ve submitted and contact you if additional information is required. Nomination packets will be reviewed by a membership selection committee and subsequently submitted for final vote to the entire membership. Decisions will be announced following the Academy’s October meeting.
